How many of us have a non-New Yorker's or out of the city childhood up bring for a spouse??? Juanita was born into a military family never had a real home or neighborhood to remember her younger years . Therefore has no real memories to look back on. My wife was educated in US schools all over the world but can not remember who she had for class mates. Juanita think its wonderful that we can meet here on BCS and bring back those thing that were so big in our lives and remember the places we grew up at. I was just wondering if there were others that had some one like that? ?

Nope.....Mickey is an authentic Bronx gal born on Park Avenue & 183rd st overlooking the railroad tracks. Actually she was born at Fordham Hospital, but that's where she lived until Prince Charming rescued her from the ghetto's. Although we lived just a few blocks from each other we never met until 1968 when I got out of the Marines and was working on the New York State Thruway in Tarrytown and Nyack where a friend on the job arranged for us to go on a blind date. It was love at first sight. Mickey claims she must have been blind indeed. Ha! Ha!

Jan grew up in the mountains of West Virginia. We met right after basic training and got married. She says she could never understand how we have the memories we do growing up in our Bronx neighborhoods. Nonetheless, she is happy that I have this forum to keep my fond memories alive. We just celebrated our 37th anniversary 10 days ago.

My wife is a Jersey girl. But we met in the Bronx September 1963. She had a friend from work who lived in my neighborhood. She was visiting for the weekend. Her friend was dating my friend at the time. That couple became our son's God Parents.

:)My husband, Al, was born in Whiting, Indiana. His parents died when he was four and he and his brother and sister were raised by a friend of the familiy. He joined the Marines when he was 18, went to Viet Nam and then was stationed in Garden City, Long Island, NY where he stayed for 40 years. I met him on the Island. When I brought him to the Bronx (Parkchester) and told him about all the friends and fun we had, he was taken back as he never experienced a great childhood.
Now that I am on the BCS, he thinks it's great that we can all talk about the "good old days" and our great times in the Bronx. He says he wishes he had had that experience.
So................here's to the Bronx and New York!!!

My husband Bob was born on Simpson Street, moved to Beck Street, then spent the next twelve years on Hughes Avenue and 179th. By the time I met him his family had moved to Yonkers, but he was attending Mt. Saint Michael HS and we met representing our high schools (mine was St. Helena) at a debate in 1965.

bronxgirl,
I graduated 1966...honestly loved everything about that school, and it wasn't easy to transition from ten years of public school, but my three years at Helena's were great.
Cool??...well, I guess you could say he was more on the nerdy side at the time,(graduated 1965) but he's pretty cool to me. I think I heard that Sean Combs (Puff Daddy, P Diddy, whatever) graduated from the Mount. True?

Hey, nothing uncool about nerdy LOL Yes, Sean Combs went to Mount -- he was two years younger than me... In two of my yearbooks confirmed... When I saw the kid in the yearbook, i remembered seeing him at school (but never realized him & Puffy were the same person until my Dad told me that Puffy graduated from Mount) Cool??...well, I guess you could say he was more on the nerdy side at the time,(graduated 1965) but he's pretty cool to me. I think I heard that Sean Combs (Puff Daddy, P Diddy, whatever) graduated from the Mount. True?
